Skyrim - Frost Dragon MkII by DaiShiHUN Skyrim - Frost Dragon MkII by DaiShiHUN
I've finally finished with my 2nd build of my Skyrim - Frost dragon paper model.

This one sports new textures and a new more stable base, a ruined Word Wall.
It is also filled with expanding foam to keep it more sturdy since, as it turned out, the last one couldn't support its own weight.

Difficulty: (still) Very Hard

Original texture and model belongs to Bethesda / ZeniMax.

Hi! It's probably the difference in printers and/or paper. The texture is a bit greenish by default if you check the raw texture file in the archive.

I had problems in the past when I tried 3rd party cartridges, or some of the printing profiles.
e.g. My printer prints in a horrible magenta/red shifted picture if I try to use the glossy photo paper setting even with the factory cartriges. And my sisters printer had a horrible green shift after she bought cheap 3rd party cartridges.

Try playing with the printer settings (if the driver lets you) or try some hue/color balance filters on the texture file and load the modified textures in pepakura viewer.

Also I used matte photo paper for this model. plain paper is usually duller and more darker, and in this case (probably looks more greenish due to the greenish blue of the base texture)

Hope it helps!

Some of the first pages of each of these files wont print. I can see whats on these pages in Pepakura but the page will be blank when printed. Any help in this matter would be much appreciated. Also this piece of work is absolutely amazing as well as all of your others.

I've had similar problem but not with this file, hard reboot fixed it for me. (if your printer is on a print server you should try rebooting that too)

Hope it helps

The hosting service is migrating its servers and looks like they are experiencing some trouble with it, should be fixed (I hope) in a few days.

If you really, absolutely, definately want it right NOW! send me a note with your email address and I'll send it to you. :)

I dont see why not, but alas my color sense (or what you call it) could be better :)

Advice: make sure you reinfoce the wings and the legs, so it wont topple over after a while.

i tried to start of with the head (around the neck) but it just didn't seem to line up after i glued a few pieces together. Where is the best place to start? also got any advice on how to glue the spikes, their a bit difficult.

I usually start the head with the mouth -> lower jaw -> upper jaw + nose + eyes -> horns
The head is the most complicated part and it is a very complex model.

For the spikes I usually just roll them between my fingers, or twist them around the point of a pencil and only glue it after it was "softened up", then use some more glue to impregnate the tip a bit so it remains hard and wont blunt after a few accidental blows from ... you know table, hand and whatnot.

Hope it helps

You hide your edges so well... How do you do it so it doesn't look like the paper is overlapping other pieces?

I use a color matching or middle grey marker pen to color the cut edges (the ones that don't have flaps on them) before assembly. Works wonders.

Just be careful because if the pen is still new or especially if you cut the pieces with a sharp knife/scissors it tends to bleed in a lot.
I use somewhat duller scissors so the edges get a little compacted when I cut and the base of the marker pen's tip so there's minimal ink to bleed into the paper.

Forgot to ask if it's attached to the stand in any way or is it just "sitting" on top of it?

Its glued on the stand. But when I put it on to check out where it should be exactly, it stood there without any problems, it was just a bit easy to knock over. So its more or less balanced but it is definitely glued on.

The head and neck is done on 120gsm matte photo paper (I found it's hard to work with it but it can be either the paper brand or just that I'm used to thicker paper)
The Word wall is done on 210 gm matte photo paper (edges show too much so I probably won't work with it again)
Everything else is done with 180gsm Verbatim matte photo paper and its my paper of choice until I find better.

Wow! I would like to know how you managed to fill it with foam without it morphing the paper.

the limbs I've done by small straight sections as I was building them so So I could manage the size. The torso is not filled up fully, just about 60% on the front side just to connect the limbs and make a weight bearing foam part.
