Legion Papercraft by DaiShiHUN Legion Papercraft by DaiShiHUN
Legion from Mass Effect 2 with an M-98 Widow Anti-Material Rifle. The model is approximately scaled to Xenonray's ME2 paper models for consistency.

I've used the alternative appearance textures that you get after finishing Legion's Loyalty mission. Original and alternative textures are both included in addition to legs that are not standing on a box.

Also my build has LED lights installed in it.

Difficulty: VERY HARD
Download [HERE]

Original texture and model belongs to Bioware

This is awesome! Legion is my favourite squadmate! Also, how do I show the fold lines in pepakura? It would be easier if the fold lines is visible for reference. Thanks.

Thx!
Unfortunately you need Pepakura Designer to switch fold lines on and off. its in the settings menu I think maybe on edges and colors settings (not sure off the top of my head)

I'm actually making this Legion papercraft right now.  I'm still in the legs part though. I tried changing the line colors through Pepakura Designer and it changed the edges but the lines inside the papercraft parts are still hidden. Am I doing it wrong?

Ok so I've checked and it's in settings > other settings, mountain fold line/valley fold line.

Woah! Thank you so much! I've been wondering about this fold lines since yesterday. Lastly, is it recommended to start making the Legion model from the feet then going up?

I usually start with the head (since that's the hardest) then yeah: legs -> torso -> arms

This is just great! Legion is my favorite character from ME.
I'm new to papercraft, I started something like 3 months ago but I have already built Tali, Javik and Mordin Solus. I want to try and build Legion, do you think it's too soon for me to try? :)

Also, how do I switch from the default model to the one in the picture? :)

If you built those 3 I think you can give it a go. It will take more time so be prepared :)

You can load another texture under settings > texture settings

Such a great work! Thanks for sharing. :)

Where did you hide the Batterie and the power switch?

It seems that I can't get 180gms paper, only 160 Or 200gsm, any recommendation which one is better?

Thx!

The batteries are in the box under the left leg. (3 x AAA ones)

depends 160 gsm can have stability issues, I'd advice making the leg and the lower torso out of 200gsm paper, If you find the join edges are too thick you can change to 160gsm for the rest. or you can do the whole from 160gsm but reinforce the legs by gluing in some extra paper strips in the legs.

Ok, then I'll order both papers, just in case.
Ah, the Box! Guess it's bigger than it looks like.

Tnx a lot.

A friend of mines stared at the pictures tonight and couldn't believe he is made out of paper. Hope she is that impressed too, when she sees mine. Should I worry about her suggestion to try something simpler first? ;) Hmm, the LEDs could bei a problem...

If you have never built a paper model before then definately don't start with Legion.

XenonRay has some nice ME themed templates that are much simpler than mine are, and look just as great.

As for LEDs please be aware that the template does not have any info on the LED placements and such.

Oh, don't destroy my dream of getting Legion soon! ;)

But you are right, maybe it would be wise to start with a simpler template. Especially the body looks very complex. And about the LEDs: I thought so because I haven't seen them in the pdo. My plan was to study him ingame again and then decide where to put the LEDs in addition to the head (they fit perfect!). After finding out how LEDs and batteries work together, of course.

Which of XenonRays (also brilliant) templates would you call simpler?  Most of his models do have a difficulty from 9/10. Or does it mean Legion are a 18.75/10? ;)
What about Niftu Cal? He doesn't look difficult, only soft and cuddly....

Legion is actually one of my hardest to build templates: many many pipes, hard to close up, and the hole in his chest makes him tough to build properly.

I (re-)started papercraft with XenonRay's first Tali template, and I still think It's a great template for first try: relatively few fiddly bits to it.
Legion is somewhat more complex, but the main concern for a first time builder in my eyes is the build length I could build Tali in a long weekend, while legion was under construction for like 6-8 days. Its good to start with something simpler just to get an idea how much time and effort the bigger one will take.
I've heard from ppl. who started with my Frost Dragon template, and gave up (on the model and probably on papercraft as a whole) after 2 days of work they only had the head.

So, several fights with the laserprinter: victory! Prints on high quality paper: done. Several Tutorials: watched. Questions open: a lot. ;)

And yes, I've got it. These kind of templates need some kind of practice first.
But I'm reliefed also, 6-8 days is much shorter than I tought. I will follow your advice and construct Tali first and maybe Garrus after.

I have noticed that in several pro-flies are some parts outside the printable area, e.g. Legions Body or Edis Arc Pistol. In Legions case does it seem that the parts are doubled. Is that a bug in pepakura?

Nope, those are leftovers in the model, you won't need them.

On a side note: If you used a laser printer, be careful when folding the edges, laser printed patterns tend to crack up when folded.

love this model currently building it. what kind of paper do you use? I see no white lines on it so smooth. How do i make it so my models don't have white lines?Do you have any tutorials ? Thanks in advance

for that one I used 180gsm plain paper.
to avoid white lines I use marker pens (mostly shades of gray) to color the paper edges before assembly.

are there any tips you can give or show the parts you used for the led lights inside? I'm not mechanically inclined but I would love to try. Thanks so much, your papercrafts are amazing :D

Actually there's an electronics shop where I live where the owner is really helpful an i just chose the LEDs I want and he calculated what kind of resistors (or what they are called) I need, and also sold me the battery box too. I had one for 2AA batteries but he said i should use 3 batteries because ... reasons i cant remember but it made sense at the time (I'm not very electronics inclined myself :P).

So basically I used 11 white LEDs + appropriate resistors wired in parallel and a 3 AA battery box, can't really tell you what Ohm resistors or what type of LED sorry.

The eye piece has a bit of red plastic in front of the LED to color the light, as for the pipes:
They are made with 2 layers the outer one is the standard 180gsm paper with the pattern printed on it and the glowing holes are cut out.
The 2nd layer is red colored paper that is not cut out anywhere. the 2 layers are think enough so they stop the light of the LED inside the tube but the red color paper in itself lets it trough nicely.

Hope it helps.

I think it would help if I was more electronically inclined lol. Did all that weight help weigh it down? Thanks for the reply though. If I do get around to building this papercraft, I will definitely ask a more electronic person to help with the LEDs. :)

Is awesome! how much skill to do this :) Can i ask, why nobody does a reaper papercraft? :(

I don't know about the skill needed but I actually don't find these hard to build just very tedious. (I usually listen to my audiobook collection while building)

As for why nobody makes a reaper ... dunno. Its a lot of time to convert or model a template not to mention to build a paper model. And I don't really liked how they look THAT much to invest that kind of money.

Thx!
The "eye" and the tubes are illuminated with white LED's, the 3 smaller lights on the head are done with fibre-optics
The tubes have a standard 190gsm paper outer layer (that's what I usually use for my paper models) that has the glowing parts cut out, and a thin red color paper inner layer. The big tube above the spine has an extra layer of dark colored paper (with the glowing parts cut out) because the pattern printed on it didn't have enough color in it to block the light from the LED.
